The I&E Certificate

The second-most popular certificate at Duke with more than 200 undergraduate students enrolled, is designed to be complementary to any major. Students pursue a rigorous cross-disciplinary study of innovation and entrepreneurship and learn how to approach future challenges with an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, regardless of whether they go on to work at small startups or large corporations.

ASHAN-WA ALIOGO T‘17

FOUNDER OF NIGERIAN FASHION COMPANY LAJA

“We had to come up with a business idea in my senior capstone class. I already had my business, so it was really cool being able to work on that in class – getting feedback from my professors, getting feedback from my classmates as well. It was almost like I wasn’t doing school, in a sense – I was doing what I love, but also learning and getting feedback and merging my business with my Duke experience and my Duke academic career.”

MATT ALSTON T‘17

ASSOCIATE PRODUCT MANAGER AT UBER AND KPCB FELLOW

“In the courses, you learn valuable frameworks. You learn how to evaluate an idea and validate a problem, you learn how to build an audience as far as branding goes, you learn marketing and how to identify the needs of a customer.”
