Duke Startup Challenge

An entrepreneurship competition that culminates in a grand finale during which the finalist teams pitch.

StartupConnect Networking Fair

This fair brings startup founders to campus to meet students in an informal job fair setting.

College Night at the American Underground

This annual event gives area college students the opportunity to meet startup founders. More than 300

students attended the event in 2016, hearing from 45 startups housed in American Underground, Durham’s largest co-working community.

Entrepreneurship Week

A series of entrepreneurship-focused events for the wider Duke community, including a panel about entrepreneurial journeys and the Duke Startup Challenge pitch finale. Other departments and schools across Duke also held entrepreneurship-focused events, fairs, and showcases during this week.

DukeGEN Showcases and Networking Events

DukeGEN hosts three networking events annually in various cities across the nation as well as two Startup

Showcases that give Duke alumni startups an opportunity to pitch to a Duke audience.

Speakers, Office Hours, DEMAN Workshops

Duke I&E frequently hosts Duke alumni entrepreneurs and other experts in entrepreneurial fields. These opportunities allow students to learn from professionalsand seek career advice.

Panel of Perspectives: Race in Social Innovation

This panel co-hosted with Duke CASE featured social entrepreneurs discussing race issues in social innovation, such as unequal funding and implicit biases.

Lessons from Entrepreneurial Women Conference

An annual one-day women’s conference held inconjunction with the Penny Pilgram George Women’s

Leadership Initiative. This year’s conference was called “Lead. Innovate. Grow. Lessons From Entrepreneurial Women” and focused on lessons in resilience, confidence, connectedness, and identity.

I&E Fest

Our annual entrepreneurship party held in conjunction with Duke University’s First Big Week. The event includes food, fun, and more information on how to get involved in entrepreneurship at Duke.

Film Screening of “She Started It”

A screening of a documentary that follows five female tech startup founders through their entrepreneurial journeys.
